I’m going on a business trip to SLC from August 6th-9th. Any Ideas? Car rentals? An Uber from the airport? Keep in mind i’m from the frozen north and don’t get out much. Only my second trip into the USA.

One of the major agencies in SLC rents Fiesta ST’s.

Where are you staying? There is a light rail from the airport to downtown and you can walk or ride trax just about anywhere you need to be. If not Uber in the downtown area is about the best place to call for one, otherwise the coverage might be sparse. There is cool stuff to see but...again...it depends on where you are and what time you have.

It’s the Budget at the SLC airport.

Marriott hotel across from the Salt Palace. I’m in town for a Flooring Convention. Also taking a factory tour at the Hunter Douglas Plant. Thanks for the tip on the light rail.

That’s what I thought but i’ve never seen a rental with a manual. Will look into that.

It’s because Ford’s ST Octane Academy is just outside of the city(relatively).

The airport line trax line will take you to the block your hotel is on from the airport. If you choose to rent a car there is some neat stuff not far from you, just depending on what you want to do and see. I don’t do the whole night life thing so im no help there but there are some great little easts around there worth checking out. I can also advise on out of doors things to see. I used to work right around the corner from there.

I guess thats still the case, what with the sale of the motorsports park. I haven’t been keeping up on it.

They extended it apparently, because it’s still going. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to go, but a friend went a couple of months back. He drove there from Greenville, SC.

Budget Utah (airport) has some fun stuff. I’ve rented a Mustang GT manual, Mustang Ecoboost manual, they had a Charger R/T manual, and last time I was there they rented a Ram 2500 Cummins with a 6 speed to the guy in front of me. Have also seen some Focus ST and Fiesta ST there.

So much to do within an hour of downtown, what kind of stuff are you looking for?

If you do end up renting a car then definitely go for a drive up the cottonwood canyons. Lots of music venues that have great acts coming through all the time. Here is who song kick is showing will be in town when you are http://www.songkick.com/metro_areas/13560-us-salt-lake-city?utf8=&filters%5BminDate%5D=08%2F06%2F2017&filters%5BmaxDate%5D=08%2F09%2F2017#date-filter-form

There are some decent bars in Salt Lake but I am never down there and can’t think of any of them. Tons of places to eat. All sort of depends on what you are looking to do.

Drive up to the Salt Flats/Bonneville. It’s worth it, for the sheer absence of anything at all alone.

Not sure outside of light shopping and eating as much as possible.

Just drive the long, long, long, long straight highway north. For about an hour or two next to the salt flats. The experience is second to none. Then, you end up by the UT/NV border, where Bonneville sits. If it’s dry enough (it wasn’t on our last trip), you can drive onto it and get lost on the flats. And yes, people do get lost on it.

PS: you can clearly see the curvature of the earth on it. Quite the experience.

I’m missing the start of speed week by two days.
